In this session, Art Fund and MEL Research explore the evidence into the emotions that can most powerfully build lasting connections with audiences, and present a new model for how museums can effectively leverage the power of emotions to build greater public support for campaigns
LUCY BIRD, Policy Manager, Art Fund
Lucy leads on the delivery of Art Fund’s policy and research agenda, which advocates for the positive impact museums and galleries have on people’s lives, and makes the case for sustainable funding.
Prior to joining Art Fund, Lucy worked at Arts Council England and the Local Government Association. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, she is also a practicing artist.
ELLIOT SIMMONDS, Client Solutions Director, MEL Research
Elliot leads culture and heritage research at MEL Research and has worked with many of the best-known organisations in the sector, ranging from the Natural History Museum to UNBOXED, the Royal Shakespeare Company to the Horniman Museum and Gardens, Museum of London and Culture Liverpool.
A mixed-methods practitioner, having worked in research for nearly 16 years, he is focussed on ensuring insights are actionable and useable.
Outside of MEL Research, he acts as a consultant and an Enterprise Advisor at Buxton and Leek College. He is also a Trustee at Creswell Crags.
