IP and Copyright
DATE: 4th of February 2016 – 6pm
VENUE: The Business Design Centre in Islington
Knowledge Quarter partner, Briffa, would like to invite all KQ partners to a special panel event which discuss IP issues in the context of film, events and communications.
Briffa is please to welcome a panel of guests representing three specific sectors affected by IP issues – the corporate client, the creative agency (be it film or events) and the freelancer.
Michelle Sally, an IP solicitor from Briffa, will be presenting a general overview of IP law and the issues some clients may face. She will be joined by a panel of leading creatives and IP experts who will talk about the specific problems they have faced, and similarly overcome:
David Tye – Head of Nationwide Creative Agency – Nationwide;
Dagmar Mackett – Director of Video – DRP Group;
Scott Horsfield – Freelance Producer;
Éamon Chawke – IP Solicitor at Briffa.
This promises to be an intriguing insight into the world of rights-ownership and will attempt to untangle IP issues particularly when multi-partners are involved. So if the freelancer produces work for the agency who sells it to the client – who owns the IP rights? Can the client reproduce the work without the permission of the client or the freelancer? If music is used – who pays for the license?
The event will end with drinks and networking (approximate end time of 7.30pm). This event is free to all KQ partners and associates. Please RSVP to Michelle from Briffa at michelle@briffa.com together with details of any guests you may wish to bring.
